Human Rights Event – Austin, Texas Chapter

Our Texas Chapter co-hosted and event on the 10th of December 2023 in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Poets for Human Rights co-founder Stazja McFadyn, and AFABW member, arranged for AFABW to co-sponsor the 2023 Poets for Human Rights Annual Awards event. An audience-participation reading of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was followed by the presentation of the Anita McAndrews Award and Renee Duke Youth Award Poetry Contest awards and reading.

The first-place winner was Shainil “Shane” Jogani from India. And 2nd prize went to Danan Jenner – for his poem on Human Rights.

Originally from India, Shainil “Shane” Jogani came to US in 2018 as a student. Currently he is working as Applications Engineer. He writes short film scripts and screenplays, a novice poem writer with last poem published in Pflugerville Poetry contest – “Stranger in wonderland”

Danan Jenner is a 19 year old aspiring graphic artist. He lives with his family in Pflugerville, Texas.
