It has been one year since the launch of this Chapter on 8/8 in the Sunshine state with a lot to celebrate! After signing in, attendees were treated to beautiful visual art that embellished the venue. All the while keyboard player Roger Harrison filled the air with smooth jazz. People had time to meet the artists and network with one another. Some re-united with old friends, and they also made new contacts.

Then attendees were seated for the formal presentations and performances. It started out with Founding Chapter Member LD Sledge welcoming everyone, and then introducing AFABW Founder, and chapter Director Barbara Cordova. She went over the past years events and acknowledged all who participated in them.

LD then brought up each of the performers starting with the trio 3 Feet Behind featuring Sylvie and Geoff Taft and Claire Wagner performing an original song about Human Rights. Visual artist Leigh Ann Edrich spoke about the upcoming Art in the Park event on November 19th that she is producing with AFABW and other local groups.

Next up was the Area 52 band with Steve Cherubino and Katy Nagy peforming an original song by Steve.

Then we heard from Terry Marks, the CEO of the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance who talked about the opportunities for artists in her district.

Barbara Cordova and Rob Oliver performed an original song by Barbara. Then we heard from the CEO of Creative Pinellas, Barbara St. Clair- who has taken responsibility for the arts culture in all of Pinellas – including special grants for artists. LD Sledge then reminded us that it is a “Wonderful World” and had the audience singing along to this song while he played it on the keyboard.

To end the show we were graced by 15 year old Sabrina Gordon putting the future there for us by singing “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman, with everyone uplifted and inspired!
